The LEADER bureau of the Zentrum Westen region is located in Tüntingen from where it cooperates with 32 regional partners. These include nine municipalities, a national institution, a regional syndicate and 21 associations from a wide range of areas such as leisure, tourism, youth, social affairs, rural living and traditions, culture, history, agriculture, nature and the environment, as well as energy and sustainable development.
LEADER Zentrum Westen is looking back on many different and successful projects as well as citizen participation projects in its member municipalities. Particularly noteworthy are, for example, the "Regional Energy Cooperative" project on the topic of sustainable energy production by citizens or the success of "HistoSchool - local history at school". This innovative project provides schools and interested parties access to local history, tailored and presented various different ways.
The LEADER Center West region currently includes nine communities: Bissen, Garnich, Habscht, Helperknapp, Kehlen, Koerich, Mamer, Mersch and Steinfort.
The LEADER region Zentrum Westen stretches north-west of Luxembourg City from the Belgian border up to the centre of the Grand Duchy. Bordering the suburbs of Luxembourg City, the region has a much higher population density than the other LEADER regions. The Zentrum Westen region impresses with its unique landscapes. The largest habitat protection zone in Luxembourg, which is part of the European Natura 2000 network can be found between the valleys of the Mamer and Eisch rivers. The so-called ‘Valley of the Seven Castles’ also belongs to the area covered by the LEADER region, as several important cultural monuments from all eras of human history.
