After several weeks of preparation and rehearsals, the big day had finally arrived: on 27 and 28 June 2026, the children’s play „Chaos in Fairy-Tale Land“ was performed in Kleinbettingen.
It is with great pleasure that the LEADER region Centre West presents one of the successfully completed mini-projects as part of the Umbrella Project: Culture / Leisure The Umbrella Project supports voluntary initiatives in the region that enrich cultural and social life through creative ideas. Clubs and organisations receive financial support and guidance to help them implement their projects with ease.
One such project is the children’s theatre production „Chaos am Märcheland“ by the Rido85 association. Over the course of several weeks, 10 children worked with director Annette Wagner to prepare for their big performance. In the process, they not only learnt their parts but also played an active role in designing the imaginative set, which was created in collaboration with Romaine Neuen. The play humorously tells the story of well-known fairy-tale characters who suddenly find themselves in a modern world full of smartphones and tablets. In this way, „Chaos in Fairy-Tale Land“ combines classic fairy tales with contemporary themes and delights children and adults alike.
Creativity and team spirit
On 27 and 28 June 2026, the society staged the play at the Hispic in Kleinbettingen. Both performances were a resounding success. Whilst Saturday’s performance was almost sold out, Sunday’s was completely sold out. Due to the huge enthusiasm, the play was performed a few days later for six school classes, reaching many more children from the region. Alongside the successful performances, the focus was above all on the personal development of the young actors and actresses. They were able to boost their self-confidence, creativity and team spirit, and it gave them the opportunity to gain their first experience of performing on stage.

As a theatre group, it was particularly rewarding for us to bring children’s theatre to our community – and we believe we were able to touch the hearts of young and old alike.“

Through projects such as „Chaos am Märcheland“, the Umbrella Project impressively demonstrates how voluntary work, creativity and collaboration can enrich cultural life in the regions.
