The project aims to further develop the existing energy co-operative in the Centre-West region and to drive forward the expansion of renewable energy at a regional level. In addition to photovoltaics, new opportunities such as agri-PV, wind energy, heat supply and energy storage are to be explored, whilst involving local authorities, businesses and citizens more closely in the process.
PLANNED MEASURES:
- Analysis of further public roof spaces for photovoltaic systems, particularly in the newly designated LEADER municipalities
- Investigation and utilisation of suitable roof areas on agricultural, commercial and industrial premises
- Analysis and further development of agri-PV solutions
- Investigation of further renewable energy sources, in particular wind energy and heat supply
- Exploring new business and funding models to involve citizens more closely
- An investigation into various options for self-consumption and resale of the electricity generated
- Exploring options for energy storage
- Promoting exchange and best-practice networking within and outside the region
GOALS:
- Expansion of solar panels on public buildings
- Development of further suitable large roof areas in the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors
- Development of new business areas alongside traditional photovoltaics, e.g. agri-PV and other renewable energies
- Greater public involvement in the regional energy transition
- Promotion of wind energy, heating solutions and energy storage
- Greater networking and collaboration with stakeholders from different sectors
- Further development of the energy co-operative as a tool for a regional and sustainable energy transition
Existing framework
The regional energy co-operative has already emerged from the previous project ClimBera was established. The first photovoltaic systems were installed on municipal rooftops and co-financed through citizens’ participation in the co-operative – the new project builds on this existing structure.
