To mark its 15th birthday, the Fondation EME founded choirs in the LEADER regions to bring people of different ages, cultures and abilities together by singing together. In the Centre West LEADER region, the um Bill choir was led by Theresia Birngruber. The aim was to promote social encounters, strengthen the well-being of the participants and enable cultural participation for all.
It showed how music and singing can overcome barriers and influence people in an enriching way. The choir will enter the next round in 2025.
IMPLEMENTED ACTIONS:
- Establishment of an inclusive choir with 55 participants in the LEADER region Centre West at the MS Day Centre um Bill
- Organisation of regular choir rehearsals from February to May 2024
- Inclusion of participants with different backgrounds, including people with disabilities or chronic illnesses
- Cooperation with local partner organisations such as MS Luxembourg, the German Multiple Sclerosis Society Trier and SOS Kannerduerf
- Organisation of a regional concert with over 180 spectators at Koerich Castle on the occasion of World MS Day
- Participation in the final concert at the Kinnekswiss on 6 July 2024
GOALS ACHIEVED:
- Bringing people from different backgrounds, age groups and abilities together through music
- Promoting social exchange and interaction, a sense of community and cultural participation
- Strengthening the mental well-being, physical health and self-confidence of participants
- Teaching breathing and physical exercises as well as musical skills
