From 4 to 6 November, the final conference of the transnational LEADER project “Our Common Future” Representatives from 13 European regions, including the LEADER Region Mëllerdall and the LEADER Region Wëlle Westen representing Luxembourg, came together, to discuss the future role of LEADER as a participatory model for regional development. In addition to exciting discussions, participants also enjoyed inspiring insights into local projects and cultural highlights such as a visit to the Adega Regional de Colares and a ride on the historic Eléctrico de Sintra.

The key results of the conference show how LEADER can contribute to shaping a common future:

1. Local action groups as “transformation agencies” – They can actively address key challenges such as climate change, demographic changes and digitalization.
2. LEADER as a democratic tool – Brings the EU closer to its citizens and promotes a citizen-friendly EU.
3. International Cooperation – Promotes innovation and social cohesion and highlights LEADER’s unique contribution to the development of rural and urban areas.

LEADER will continue to be an important tool for innovation and social cohesion – an approach that even serves as a model internationally!
